This Island Earth (1955)

A good story with most elements now present in science fiction movies: scientists recruiting, Armageddon, human testing, testing in humans, alien machine creation, secret plans, creative visual effects, etc. I't hardly a B-movie unless you are stupid enough to concentrate exclusively in the budget.

Dredd (2012)

Most people is too stupid to realize this is an instant classic: the crude "cheap" picture is on purpose to aid realism, and Karl Urban not taking the helmet off aids to the character.

Simple story, good direction, good development, nice characters (acting with a helmet covering most of your face all the time!; Lena Headey was crude; Olivia Thirlby was convincing and most actors too). So crude a cinematography, is quite difficult for the spectator not to feel like being on set watching an actor's rehearsal. This is much more Dredd than Stallone's 1995 but, at the same time, I felt like watching that cyberpunky film RoboCop when I was just a kid.

I don't know if they did well at the box office. I guess not. Most people is too stupid to realize this is an instant classic. Not the big inspiring kind, but a classic anyway.

Cosmopolis (2012)

This movie had a great ending but sadly something failed to deliver. Perhaps the pseudo-intellectual dialogues and the way of telling the story without characters feeling real?

My Dinner with André (1981)

Too much pseudo-intellectual babble but I have to acknowledge a good movie.

Halloween (2007)

Do you remember that shark-like guy whose feelings you couldn't decipher? Forget him, he was utterly destroyed. What you watch on the screen is the utter waste of Michael Myers' mystery.

Jumping from a fatty androgynous kid to a human Yeti has nothing to do with Michael Myers psychology or physique. Instead, the director displays his lack of comprehension of human motivations and makes this character as vulgar as any slasher copy of Friday the 13th can get.

This movie was as bad as to tell you everything in the voice of an actor instead of telling a story through images (cinema, anyone?). Nothing was left to the spectator's mind but the sensation that Michael Myers isn't more dangerous than an angry kitty.
